The Development Finance Corporation (DFC) today, donated $3,000 to the Belize Protectors Association (BPA) to support a team of 25 persons from Belize’s uniform forces to participate in the Annual ‘Challenge Cup’ which is a grueling 2 day, 120 mile, foot relay race through the hot and cold desert environment from Baker, California to Las Vegas, Nevada.
With over 8,000 participants, this grand event brings together competing Law enforcement teams from across the United States, Canada as well as Europe. The Belize Protectors, made up of members from the Belize Police Department, the Belize Defence Force, the Belize Coast Guard, in past relays, has made Belize proud coming in 1st Place in 2016 in the Mixed Category, but overall 6th Place, 3rd Place in 2017 and 2nd Place in 2018. This year they aim to dethrone the Los Angeles Police Department whom have held the championship for 8 consecutive years.
This is the 3rd Year the DFC has contributed to the efforts of the Belize Protectors and we encourage other institutions to equally lend their financial support to help the Belize Protectors cover the considerable costs they incur in order to proudly represent Belize at this event.
The DFC wishes Belize’s Team, the Belize Protectors the best of luck in bringing home the 1st Place Trophy in 2019.
