In line with its Strategic Objective to “Mainstream climate resiliency (mitigation and adaptation) in all operations”, the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has been actively implementing climate-related initiatives such as:
- Establishing a renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) mitigation financing program and;
- Piloting green finance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) including small farmers, and low-income households.
In addition to its Climate Change Policy and Go Green Action Plan, the DFC has developed and begun the implementation of an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) to its credit operations.
As part of the ESMS, the DFC works closely with national partners such as the Department of the Environment (DOE) which ensures that the required environmental clearance processes for any development are conducted in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Amendment Regulations of 2007.
We invite you to view the below video which illustrates the DOE’s Environmental Clearance Process.
