THE POSITION
The Manager, Accounting is part of the Management Team and is responsible to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department. The incumbent supports financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial information. He/she ensures that proper accounting systems, policies, procedures and internal controls are established and effectively applied to ensure the proper recording of business transactions, the safeguard and integrity of accounting data and the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports and statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards. The incumbent also ensures compliance of business transactions with taxation and other related legislation and established corporate policies and procedures. Furthermore, he/she ensures effective liaison with suppliers, service providers and other third parties, and provides continuous leadership, training and support to the Accounting Supervisors and the accounting staff country wide.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- An internationally recognized professional accounting certification (e.g. CPA, CGA, or ACCA or CPA) would be preferred; or pursuing such certification in accountancy
- At least five years of managerial experience as an Accounting or Finance Manager; preferably at a financial institution
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Accounting Department, ensuring high performance, compliance with corporate policies, and continuous staff development.
- Manage and monitor all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, audits, loan disbursements, and cash flow management in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards.
- Establish and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in strategic financial planning, budget preparation, and representing the department in internal and external forums.
- Coordinate external and internal audits and implement approved recommendations.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial services and reports, including interest certificates, payment statements, and audit confirmations.
- Monitor and make recommendations to management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, accounting and operational policies, and financial management as well as improvements in systems and departmental structure.
- Serve as an active member of the Management Team and contribute to the Corporation’s strategic planning and organizational development.
- Stay informed on developments in the banking and development finance sectors to enhance departmental effectiveness.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office and Accounting Software
- Strong leadership, management and analytical skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards and of related legislation and regulations
- High attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- High ethical standards and uncompromising sense of integrity
